Celebrate Mother's Day with Of the Earth Jewelry {giveaway}

Country Mouse, City Mouse

Of the Earth Jewelry is a shop full of wire wrapped, handmade copper, and beaded jewelry inspired by nature.

Randee, the kind lady and artist behind Of the Earth Jewelry made me one happy mommy by sending me a fabulous nest necklace just in time for Mother's Day! I am in love with this necklace, as it is something I had admired in her Etsy shop for quite some time.

My hubby asked me just the other day if he could get me a Mother's Day gift. I knew exactly what I was wanting him to get!

I love both of these pieces of jewelry and this is what I would love from my hubby for Mother's Day. Of the Earth Jewelry has very affordable prices, and right now there are discount codes to be found.

If you would like free shipping (expires 04/29) use code FREESHIPPINGMD11
OR
If you would like 30% off your purchase use code MD2011 (expires 05/08)

And, both would compliment my Mother and Babies Robins Egg Nest Necklace. The sentiment of this necklace brings a tear to my eye. The momma bird is looking after her nest, just as moms watch over our children.

I chose two pink eggs and one blue, because that is what I have - two girls and a boy. Of the Earth Jewelry lets the customer customize your piece to suit the wearer perfectly. I love the look of the necklace and especially like the antique copper. It has such a warm feel to it. I wear this everywhere I go and people are commenting on how unique and cute the necklace is.

The necklace is adjustable from 16 to 19 inches. Randee did an amazing job with this necklace. Her workmanship is excellent,but most impressive is the feel of this piece. It is a lovely representative of a mother's love and would make a fantastic Mother's Day gift!

Don't forget to take advantage of the discount codes. I know I am going to put a couple of items in a cart and then hand the computer to my hubby to log into his paypal.

Gifts for her ~ Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry {giveaway}

Country Mouse, City Mouse

One of my favourite Etsy shops is back for a return visit at my blog!

Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry is a copulation of original artwork and jewelry handmade by my friend, Diane. New just this Fall, Diane has been focused on her greeting card sets. If you have something particular in mind, Diane is pleased to hear from you and work with you to achieve what you are looking for!

Take a peek at this necklace and earring set which I received from Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry just in time for Christmas.

Santa pendant hangs from a completely hand crafted chain accompanied by 2 pewter reindeer charms, Christmas tree beads, red and green beads and seed beads. The central pendant hangs approximately 1/1/2" from the necklace which is adjustable from approximately 20 1/2" to 21 1/2" and closes with a silver plated lobster claw clasp. The accompanying earrings hang approximately 1 1/4" from silver plated French Hook wires.

I absolutely love the long length of this necklace. And, I absolutely love the colour of beads which Diane used. As with all of the items at Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry, this is beautifully made with attention to detail. The reindeer are adorable, as is the center Santa Claus pendant. I like that the Santa Claus set is timeless, as Santa never goes out of style. I will be able to wear this for years to come. Diane is a fantastic seller on Etsy. She is so easy to work with, and I have been thrilled with this purchase, as I was my first purchase this past Fall.

This is a positively festive necklace and earring set!

Thank you to Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry for joining me during my Holiday Gift Guide. A gift from Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry would be pretty awesome under the tree, or in a Christmas stocking this holiday season!

Gifts for her ~ Apron from 2 Sues' Attic {giveaway}

Country Mouse, City Mouse

Welcome to Day 40 of my Holiday Gift Guide!
2Sues' Attic Etsy Shop

....is a place you will be finding hand sewn items, soft sculptures, and papier mache sculptures, including mannequins. We are brand new and just getting started.

Remember earlier this week I was talking about shortbread, and how I was going to be whipping up a batch for our Christmas concerts this weekend? It is baking season and I know many people are busy in their kitchens preparing treats and delicious meals. But, we also know that baking and cooking can be a dirty job and an apron is a must. Especially, a cute holiday print apron, like the one I received from 2 Sues' Attic!

I love my new apron from 2 Sues' Attic. It has a delightful snowman print and hits right at the knee. I think my favourite thing about this apron is that it boasts a lot of flounce. Plus, it is really thick and very well handmade. The pattern is perfect for not just the Christmas season, but the whole winter through...or if you are a snowman collector, the whole year through.

The deep blue satin underlay finishes the skirt beautifully. It would of been a nice apron with just the snowman fabric, but, the underlay gives it an elegant finish.

This is a wash and wear apron, but laying flat to dry is recommended. The attention to detail in this apron from 2 Sues' Attic is excellent and her design is unique.

I also love the wide comfortable waistband and long, wide ties - perfect for tying a cute bow at the rear! This apron is great for puttering around in your kitchen this holiday season, but, it would also be perfect for wearing while preparing and entertaining for guests!

I am excited to wear my apron throughout the holiday season and beyond. Aprons are timeless gifts, and one from 2 Sues' Attic would be a treasure gift.

Thank you to 2 Sues' Attic for joining me during my holiday gift guide.

~~ Holiday Give Away ~~

Guess what? I have a second snowman apron to give to one of my lucky followers!

All Hallow's Bootique {giveaway}

Grand Opening!! Opening this October!
Update: Nov 10, 2010.
It seems Courtney Herz has waltzed off into the sunset with my $45 dollars which she took from me but didn't supply me with a product. Courtney Herz also didn't supply the giveaway prize to the winner of this giveaway...no big surprise there, I suppose.
Please, buyer beware when it come to this gal. She has disappeared from Etsy, but has been found elsewhere.
There is good news here, though! A wonderful blog reader has offered to supply the winner of this giveaway with a prize. Thank you to Gen for such a generous offer. People like Gen are amazing. People like Courtney Herz are....well, what goes around comes around, Courtney Herz!

It isn't every day that I get the opportunity to introduce you to a brand new store. I am thrilled to introduce my readers to a new Etsy shop called All Hallow's Bootique! While Courtney is busy getting items listed, lets learn a little bit about her and her new venture.

What will we find when visiting All Hallow's Bootique?

While established a little while ago, my Etsy shop is brand new! I am currently developing my inventory and can't wait for my release! In my shop you will find a little bit of everything, always Halloween themed! You will also find Samhain items, as well, for those who consider Halloween a religious holiday! Wreaths, signs, cards, home decor, jewelry, soaps even...there's really no limit to what you will find! Although it will be a few months before my shop is up and running, it will be well worth the wait!

Getting to know Courtney, the artist behind All Hallow's Bootique....

I first started this Etsy shop because I LOVE Halloween, and I've always wished I could find Halloween items all year long. Being a handmade seller of...everything...I decided that a Halloween shop would be a perfect shop to host a variety of crafts without looking disorganized. So....voila! One theme, many options! I also can never find Samhain items, so this will be a place for that, as well. =)

What can we expect to find in your shop in the coming weeks and months?

There is a lot in store for this shop of mine! I am currently preparing to move to another state, so my workings are a bit halted because of that. But once everything is set up, I will actually have a whole room for a studio! After that, I'll be adding new items every week if not every day! Some items you can find coming very soon, like in the next week or two, are tarot readings, rune readings and dream interpretations! What's Halloween without a little metaphysical right? I am experienced in these readings, and have seen the valuable influence and advice they have given to many who have gotten readings from me. Also, I will be opening a new shop in about 7 months. It will be called Well In The Woods and it is a darker fantasy/winter fantasy themed shop with touches of vintage. It will be incredibly unique and host mainly jewelry, as well as some other forms of art you will be sure to love!

Also, I forgot to mention that I have items that will be useful all year long, as well, in autumn colors, as well as cross stitched pictures of autumn scenes that may be good for all year decor. =) As well as the tarot readings, etc which can of course be useful any time of year. =)

Thanks so much for the sneak peek of my shop! I can't wait until it's fully operational and you can browse and buy all of the wonderfully haunted hallows items in stock all year round!
Blessed Be!

Thank you Courtney for joining me at my blog and sharing your new shop with us.

Pumpkin Hollow ~ Halloween all year long {giveaway}

If there is one day out of the year that my husband loves, it is Halloween. We get revved up for Halloween even before school goes back in September, we look for costumes, treats and decorations!

Our next Etsy feature is Pumpkin Hollow, where people like my hubby can enjoy Halloween all year through, and find amazingly unique works of art. 'M' and her husband (Pumpkinrot) are true Halloween enthusiasts and their passion shines through when you visit and view their collections.

What will we find when visiting Pumpkin Hollow?

Jack o'lanterns & various creatures...such as cloaked pumpkinheaded figures, zombies or corpses (known as "groundbreakers") and other flights of Halloween fancy.

M's work

These are available in all shapes and sizes, but 'M' is particularly fond of more traditional ones, like this guy.

Getting to know 'M', the artist behind Pumpkin Hollow....

My husband, Pumpkinrot, has been making Halloween since he was a kid. Once he was too old to trick or treat, he began doing yard haunts and making props. Once we married, I convinced him to try selling on Etsy...we've been selling ever since. My jack o'lanterns weren't a part of the initial plan, but I started tinkering with clay and twigs and paint and, well, my jack o'lanterns came to be and evolved.

Pumpkinrot's work

What can we expect to find in your shop in the coming weeks and months?

More Halloween! We kind of go where inspiration takes us. There's never really a concrete plan, we just get ideas, try them out, and if they work they may end up on the shop.

M & Pumpkinrot's work

Where else can we connect and find you?

Pumpkinrot.com. It features my husband's works through the years, including yard haunts, videos, various props and photo shoots.

Also, he has a blog that he updates several times a day that is chock full of Halloween. He features other artists, music, shares Halloween memories, features movies, and an amazing array of Halloween goodness: http://pumpkinrot.blogspot.com/. We get over 3,000 hits a day during the Halloween season. I believe it is his obvious pure love for the holiday that keeps readers coming back.

I am usually a cutsie Halloween person, so I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at when I first took a look through Pumpkin Hollow. But, once I was browsing, I found a vast collection of works of art, procured by talented artists. 'M' and her husband have taken their love for Halloween, and let their passion evolve into unique and meticulously crafted items.

I received this little traditional Jack O'Lantern from Pumpkin Hollow. My little Jack arrived specially packaged with lots of extra touches. M takes the time to package not just carefully, but, also with lots of Halloween spirit. As soon as I started to open my box I was smiling and I knew that Halloween had arrived!

My little Jack O'Lantern has found a new home on the fireplace mantel. He looks just adorable nestled in amongst the Fall leaves and orange lights. 'M' crafts these little characters with clay and paint, and her attention to detail is immaculate. No two Jack O'Lanterns are identical. Each and every one is unique with their own personality.

I can definitely see an entire family of little Jacks nestled across the mantel. These are a great addition to our Halloween decorations and he has become a great conversation starter. I love my little Jack...just looking at him you know his creation was powered by the love of Halloween.

~ Giveaway ~

'M' has created a Jack O'Lantern just for the readers of my blog. You too can bring some character and fun into your home this Halloween.

Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry {giveaway}

People with talent always amaze me (maybe because of my lack of any talents). I am so thankful for people as talented as my new friend, Diane, who are willing to share their art with those of us who are maybe not quite as talented.

The Cat-O'Lantern is one of Diane's personal favourites. It is offered in both printed forms and as a jewelry items. This is a nice, simple little necklace and earring set that features the artwork.

What will we find when visiting Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry?

My Etsy shop is a combination of creations using my original art and retro clip art that I have collected. You are going to find a lot of cat related items in my artwork and jewelry. I have four cat companions and they are a constant inspiration. I also tend to create items related to poodles and pugs. I like wine and that comes through in some of my pieces.

Getting to know Diane, the artist behind Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry....

I began selling online at Ebay, selling mostly garage sale items at first. Then about 5 years ago it dawned on me to maybe try some of my artwork. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oregon State University, I worked in the graphic design field in Eugene, Oregon for many years and I was also the editor and publisher of a local entertainment paper here on the Oregon Coast for about 10 years. I stopped doing that in 2004 and began creating more fine art again. The first art items I sold were in the form of polymer clay Maneki Neko pendants which I individually hand crafted, I still occasionally make those. My inventory has slowly expanded to include artwork and also the jewelry. I was really quite excited when I heard about Etsy as a good place for arts and crafts people and I’ve been building my shop there since March 2008.

This is a mixed media print, one of Diane's favourites. It is called Guardians of a Haunted Forest.

What can we expect to find in your shop in the coming weeks and months?

I would like to veer away from the jewelry somewhat, I will probably still do the button art jewelry and the polymer clay sculpted cats and the occasional porcelain lucky cat bead piece but I really want to paint again and create new mixed media prints. I want to offer a line of greeting card sets from my Etsy shop and hopefully more artwork related pieces. I am also excited about beginning a new mannequin sculpture for 2 Sues’ Attic. The next one will be more Egyptian influenced. Of course with Halloween on the way, my favorite time of year, I will be listing more items with that theme in the coming weeks. One new item that’s coming up is a polymer clay black cat familiar pendant which the buyer can name, so that will add a personal touch for them as a way to connect with their familiar kitty.

Where else can we connect and find you?

I also recently opened a second Etsy shop with a friend, it’s called 2 Sues’ Attic (http://www.2suesattic.etsy.com ). It features hand made aprons, which my friend sews, and knitted scarves I make. Also my papier mache sculpture pieces. One of my most ambitious projects to date is in that shop, it’s a life size mannequin named Astrea shaped like a black cat. I made it for modeling the aprons. If you would like to see her please go here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/54462912/astrea-black-cat-life-size-hand-sculpted She has already been included in two Halloween themed treasuries as well: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4c8261306d3d6d913986da1d/trick-or-treat-the-undiscovered?index=0 and http://www.etsy.com/treasury/4c8411c00dd76d91eae37e3f/orange-you-glad-halloween-is-black

My very lovely model is wearing Diane's Trick or Treating Children in Costumes Necklace. (It arrived with the cutest matching earrings, which the lovely model wore to school, and, which I have yet to see again. Lovely model has been told to find them...or else)

I was smitten with this set when I viewed it while browsing Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry, but, when it arrived I was WOWED! The pendant is fashioned after an original drawing done by Diane. Diane drew it to accompany a poem she wrote...this completely blows me away! What I have been wearing around my neck is so original and unique, it comes from a true artist!

The pendant is a 1 1/4" button, strung on an 18" twine and organza black necklace and under the pendant is a candy corn bead. The elusive earrings are also candy corn coloured and match beautifully.

When I wear the set (or just look at it) I feel the whimsy and the magic of Halloween. Halloween eve has always been a night of fun for our family. I love watching the pure joy on children's faces as they dress up and go house to house for treats. Here, on my street (and neighbourhood) Halloween eve is a evening when all you hear is the laughter of happy kids.

This set captures that feeling perfectly!

Included with the necklace and earring set is the matching note card.

My experience with Three Cats Graphics & Jewelry has been exceptional. Diane is a very friendly seller and when you visit her shop, I am sure you will feel the same way about her artwork and jewelry, as I do.

Thank you to Diane for being a part of my blog, and sharing with us her amazing work, and inspiring the magical feelings of FALL and Halloween.

Craft Junkie ~ Distressed Wooden Crafts {giveaway}

Country Mouse, City Mouse is happy to introduce an amazing Etsy shop called Craft Junkie.

Craft Junkie is where you will find all sorts of holiday home decor for all seasons of the year.

Getting to know Crissi, the artist behind Craft Junkie....

A friend of mine taught me how to do primitive wood craft about 10 years ago. I had tried painting on wood before and never like how my projects turned out. But I absolutely loved the results of making things the prim way. I got a few little tools and made some things then the excitement died out and other hobbies took over for a few years.

Then about 2 years ago I was reminded of how much fun this was by another friend who has an etsy shop (which I had never heard of before!) I saw that she had found a way to make money out of her wood crafts, so I thought I'd give it a shot. My husband bought me a band saw for our anniversary last year and I've been cutting ever since! It started out slow but over the last year and a half it's really picked up and here I am now being able to support my 5 kids and helping put my husband through college.

What will we find when visiting Craft Junkie?

Upon entering my shop you can find all sorts of holiday home decor for all seasons of the year. My letters are all cut from 2" pine so they are all self standing. I have a passion for mixing the distressed with the glam. I LOVE glitter and sparkles :) I also do some decorations with wood and vinyl.

Family was the very first set which Crissi made. This is where it all began and she became excited about designing.

Crissi had so much fun designing this one! She just loves glitter.

What can we expect to find in your shop in the coming weeks and months?

Right now I am working on a few more holiday items to add to my shop but I am also getting ready to participate in the North West Arkansas Boutique Show Fall 2010 Nov. 19-20. This will be my first show so I am REALLY excited!! On the top of my list of new tools to buy is a vinyl cutter so as soon as I can cross that one off my list you will start seeing MORE of those type of decorations!

I have longed to own chunky letter cut-outs, as I have admired them for some time. But, never found what I thought was perfect...until now. Craft Junkie adds personality to her letters, with glitter and embellishments, that makes them come alive.

I received this set of FALL letters from Craft Junkie. They are beautifully crafted and finished professionally. There aren't any rough edges, and the choice of colours really brings the beauty of the season inside. Crissi has made them just the right height (not too small and not too large). Using the maple leaf as the letter 'A' is so cute and makes it special and unique.

I have mine sitting on my front window ledge. They are facing into our living room, but anyone walking up to our home (from the outside) would know that it says Fall. I think they are really cute here, but can see they would be just as great on mantles, an entry way table, or as a table centerpiece.

Craft Junkie offers fantastic pieces at great price points. There is something for every season. The workmanship is tops, and what you receive is a unique handmade treasure. These blocks are a great way to add a seasonal touch to your home, or they make great gift ideas! I will enjoy this block set for many years to come, and, I can't wait to see what Crissi comes up with next.

Thank you Crissi for being a part of Country Mouse, City Mouse and sharing with myself and my readers your lovely Fall splendor!

~ Giveaway ~

One blog follower will win their own set of FALL letters from Craft Junkie, just like the one I reviewed!

aluckyhorseshoe {giveaway}

Aluckyhorseshoe is an Etsy shop which specializes in vinyl wall art and decals, as well as photography and drawings.

Based in Washington state, this is a shop with a heart. Run by horse-lovers they strive to give back through their business...a portion of their sales is given to Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation. Sandra, owns a Morgan mare and loves doing horse shows. Sandra always wanted to name her barn A Lucky Horseshoe...thus her Etsy name.

The motivation of their Etsy shop is to bring a smile to the face of not just them, but the people they are selling to. The shop began in November of 2009 and with the success they have added three other internet shops.

I love vinyl wall art and find it an inexpensive way to give your home a quick and easy face-lift with a huge impact.

For our review aluckyhorseshoe sent us a Home is Where the Heart is decal. I chose red, but there are many colour choices available. My sample arrived quickly and safely in a mailing tube. Included, were detailed instructions of how to apply, and a tool for the application. To easily install, we just wiped down the wall and then started to press the decal into place, using the tool.

Within a few minutes we had instantly given our hallway a new spruced up look. After running the applicator over the paper, we peeled off the backing to reveal our decal.

It really looks great and is so easy! If we can do it, anyone can. In fact, if you are in doubt that you might not be able to apply this to your wall, aluckyhorseshoe includes a smaller sample for you to try out before you apply your purchase. (Our sample was that cute birdie that you can see above)

If you are a horse-lover, than this is the shop for you. Aluckyhorseshoe has an amazing selection of wall decals just for you. Not just limited to the horse-man or woman, though. There is a huge selection of wall art, from a decorative chandelier, to an old time sign with a quote, there is something for everyone, and something for everyone's taste and decor.

You can find Sandra at shophandmade.com, amazon.com, ecrator.com, and their etsy shop.

Silly Mama Quilts {giveaway}

Silly Mama Quilts
Fresh and Fun Handmade Projects

Just imagine with me for a minute....large quilting frames set up in my grandmother's dining room for weeks on end. My grandmother's friends coming over to work on a quilt for the afternoon. Me, as a young child crawling under the quilting frame and popping up to take a look at what was taking shape as the ladies worked and enjoyed such a simple afternoon.

Quilts ~ I grew up with that scene, and I loved it. I was always fascinated with watching the ladies quilt and I loved the beauty which they were creating. I have many quilts in my home, some on display, some are baby quilts and others are put away in my hope chest. So, you can imagine my excitement when I was offered to review a quilted table runner by Silly Mama Quilts.

Oh, how I admire Silly Mama Quilts. Looking at the lovely work takes me back to those days of my childhood. Quilts are so sentimental and memory-provoking to me. I was instantly in love with my Fiesta Table Runner when it arrived last week. I love the bright, vibrant colours of the Fiesta. What a wonderful breath of fresh air after a long winter. The size is just perfect and the quality of the workmanship is tops. The table runner is so versatile, as I can use it reversed as well.

I am so thankful to Silly Mama Quilts for sharing her work with us. Quilting is an amazing skill, one which I don't possess, but I love quilts and enjoy surrounding myself with quilted items in my home.

Enjoy some of my favourites from Silly Mama Quilts...

Red Polka Dot Clutch
