Samsung to sue Apple over the iPhone.....ha ha ha....Yeah because the Galaxy phones are so original?? WTF You dont have to be a brain surgeon to see the blatant copy Samsung has done of the iPhone.

I would still estimate that there are many more FCP installs in use than Avid.
If you look at the industry as a whole there are but the higher up the food chain you go the fewer FCP seats you see. These numbers are from a couple of years ago but from what I remember FCP had about 50% of the market and Avid had 25% or 30%. A survey of A.C.E. members (American Cinema Editors), who mainly work on 'Hollywood' TV shows and movies, taken around the same time showed that about 80% of members used Avid while about 10% used FCP.
For feature films and television these days, Final Cut is ABSOLUTELY the industry standard. Oh and in the 8 years I've lived in Hollywood, I never met one person in the industry who uses a Windows PC (maybe a writer or two).
No, it's not and people do use PCs although Macs are typically much more common in the creative fields than in the general population.

AirStumbler (http://www.nexus9.org/): wireless network discover tool. I prefer it to MacStumbler.
Backlight (http://freshlysqueezedsoftware.com/products/freeware/): allows screensavers to be used as desktops, works great with MarineAquarium ;)
WClock (http://www.wolfware.com/wClock.html): menu bar clock with pop down calendar, now that Calendarclock/MenuCalendarClock has become shareware.
iCal Birthday Shifter (http://www.scotlandsoftware.com/products/icalshifter/index.html): takes birthdays from Address Book and makes them into events in iCal.

Why We're Screwed (http://www.businessinsider.com/why-the-us-is-screwed-2011-2#) (if we don't adapt quickly)
For the sake of this discussion, let's try to avoid actually talking about who is to blame or which political party is to blame, or which ideology is to blame... and just talk about the problem we're in, how bad it is, and what needs to be done to fix it. What sacrifices need to be made, and how quickly we need to make them. There's no more denying there's a problem. The only issue now is what the solution looks like.
Please avoid the blame game. Stay on topic so we can have a meaningful discussion about actual practical solutions.

While I disagree with the article's author when he says we don't spend too much on Education and Defense... he's 100% right about the MAIN problem.
What really busts our budget are the mind-boggling amounts we spend on our entitlement programs--Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid (especially Medicare and Medicaid). These programs are wildly more expensive than any other budget items, and they're also growing like weeds.
If we don't get Medicare and Medicaid expenses under control, the USA will go broke, pure and simple. And yet, almost no one in Washington has the stones to even talk about this, let alone do something about it. They just kick the can down the road.

http://oleb.net/blog/2010/04/universal-app-is-not-a-universal-binary/
The iPhone can run iPad apps as a universal app contains a single application binary with appropriate resolution and UI information dependent on the device. Therefore the iPad and iPhone can run the EXACT same application binaries, so that argument is out the window.

it cracks me up that people are making a big deal of 64bit. Sure, it'd be nice, but I'd rather have the software be multithreaded worth a rat's ass, and work properly.
Nothing quite brings the same joy to my heart as starting a render in FCP and having a look at Activity Monitor, and seeing a whopping two cores in use. Or having to export a QT file first because I can't send directly to Compressor.
Amen to that. Nothing like working on an 8 core machine and seeing that happen.

In 5 years time, Kindle OS will have a greater market share than android I think.
Really stop lying to yourself. Android is a powerful mobile OS that can be adapted to many situations. Its not going anywhere for a while. Kindle will not outsell it as kindles direct competition the Nook (an android device). Android will save people money in the future. Why right your own set of code for a cash register when you just build it on top of android.

Who's talking about decisions? It's about teaching responsibilities.
Obviously you can't prevent any person from doing as they desire, but setting rules is not a prison sentence, it's a loving parent exercising their responsibility to set guidelines for a yet not grown up (technically) young adult who doesn't know any better. Sure they need to learn by their mistakes, but tell that to him when he's 19 and responsible for a baby who never asked to be brought into the world. He'll have to grow up then won't he or can he?Tell him yourself, the little brat started this thread because he is mad at mommy and daddy.
The thread starter will have to wait 18 years and 9 months to figure out if he'll let his own brat sleep over.

I've had my 5th gen. iPod video for about five years now, and it's treated me well; until last night. I was lying in bed listening to music, and I wanted to skip the song, so I pushed the forward button. Nothing happens. I try it again; the iPod freezes for about 20 seconds, then totally powers down, and makes a clicking noise (sounds like a drive maybe?).
Now, every time I turn the iPod on, I get the Apple logo, and it immediately goes to the "Connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore" screen, and after about 10 seconds, it powers off, again making the same whine/click noise. It's in a loop with this.
If I plug it into my computer, it doesn't read whatsoever; nothing on my desktop, nothing in iTunes, but the iPod itself goes to disk mode with a white screen and a "do not disconnect" sign. I cannot seem to get it out of disk mode, let alone get my computer to recognize it, so I can't restore it. I have a Macbook, and I've tried to restore it using other computers (several Windows systems) and it recognizes a "USB mass storage device", but doesn't appear in iTunes or anywhere else.
I've tried doing the manual reset, tried diagnostics mode, and to no avail. It's stuck in disk mode in a perpetual loop every time I turn it on, and NO computers will recognize it.
I have a really old 3GB iPod mini that I got years ago, so that's been my replacement for the past 24 hours— problem is, 3GB hardly compares to the 30GB that was on my iPod video; I can't even fit a quarter of my library on it. I'm kind of upset about it, I mean, I know that 5 years is quite awhile, but I've taken extremely good care of the device. It's been in a protective case ever since I got it, and I rarely drop it. I use it about every day. Any ideas on what I can do? To my understanding, if the hard drive has crashed, a sad iPod logo will appear, and that hasn't happened yet, so... who knows? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I don't really want to pay Apple to repair it because I may as well buy a new iPod (which I won't be able to do for quite awhile, broke college student here).

From what I read there is no difference between a paid and non paid version in way of functions. The only difference is that it eliminates the nagware.
