Goth Makeup and Hairstyles

Goth makeup and hairstyles

A number of Goth women love to have a white or light foundation to create interesting looks, and the one in the photo above is really nice looking.

Those dark eyes, red lips and dark straight hair, along with the Goth top really are set off by that white foundation, which very attractive, and the dark eye shadow finishes off the fun and beautiful look of this Goth woman.

Goth Fashion | Hot, Sexy Corset

Goth Fashion - Corset

We've been looking at some Gothic fashion in the last several posts and talking about how the Goth lifestyle is highly individualistic and self-interpreting. That's definitely the case here, in what could only be considered a completely modern take on the corset, which of course is borrowed from the Victorian times.

But as many Goth women embrace a more Victorian look overall, this woman really keeps it modern looking. Still, looks great.

Goth Fashion | Makeup and Attitude

Goth Fashion and Makeup

Gothic lifestyle is all about showing who you are individually, and with Goth and makeup, it's all about attitude and how you want people to see you.

One popular aspect of Gothic makeup is the pale foundation, as shown with this young woman.

What I find interesting in using that type of pale background, is it gives you an interesting canvass to work from, and almost anything will work with it, just like a white wall where you live.

This particular look if very intriguing, and I like how she did it.

Goth Girls | Wearing Almost Everything

Goth Girls

If you are Goth or follow Goth lifestyles, you know the underlying foundation is there really are no rules, and Goth is what you want it to be through who you uniquely are.

That is definitely part of the makeup of the Goth girl who has all sorts of busy things she's wearing, and somehow, it works good for her.

She has some of the roots of Goth look with the punk hairstyle, the typical black clothing, but then adds a white tutu and little white bows.

Strange but fun fashion for Goth. She has really embraced expressing herself as a Goth, and has done it extravagantly and intricately.

Goth Fashion | Sexy Goth Woman

Goth Fashion

This goth outfit is very nice, to say the least. It all fits together and definitely is made attractive by the goth woman wearing it.

Now I think if all Gothic fashion went this route there would be quite a few new adherents to the lifestyle.

Even a lot of non-Goths would like this.

"Gothic Charm School" by Jillian Venters

Bizarre Subcultures

Since its beginning in the latter part of the 1970s post-punk movement in the UK, Goth has generated a lot of confusion and uncertainty; not only from outsiders but from the diversity of Gothic lifestyles within the subculture.

To take a look at some of that and ways to combat it, author and Goth Jillian Venters has written a book named, "Gothic Charm School: An Essential Guide for Goths and Those Who Love Them," in hopes of dispelling some of the myths, while also giving tips for her fellow Goths on living in a non-Goth world.

Part of Venters focus is on the need for Goths to just be themselves, and not try to form a caricature of what the origins of Goth in the punk rock culture was, which dwelt a lot on anger, depression and being anti-social.

Pretty interesting. I'm interesting in how Goths respond to the book.

Goth | Goth Blog Showing Dressed and Sweating on a Hot Day

Goth

Talk about a targeted niche. A new website dedicated to posting on Goths wearing their heavy clothing and makeup in hot weather and then having visitors vote on the sweatiest Goth has been launched recently, and has a bunch of pictures with Goths wearing their usual clothing in the hot summer months.

While I've never thought of Goths in the hot summer months, it is interesting to see them in their extremely heavy clothing, committed to their wardrobe to the end.

Looking at a lot of them, they do seem to have things under control in general, as many don't seem to be sweating much, while others look like they feel the heat.

Interesting concept, but watching the reaction of Goths to the summer heat and how much they sweat isn't something I'm going to pursue any time soon.

But for those interested, now you can check it out whenever you want.

Goth | Goth Fashion Popular This Season

Goth

Looking at the fashion shows and collections this spring, goth fashion trends have been a very popular theme, along with the darkened shadow around the eyes.

Vogue Italia just released a collection from the likes of Nina Ricci, Yhoji and Yves Saint Laurent with a strong goth fashion statement shot by Craig McDean.

Some of these photos were strangely bizarre and eerie, as a number of models looked like they were mannequins.

Some of the more popular models took part in the shoot like Magdalena, Jourdan, Eniko and Evelina.

Goth Trends | Great Goth Postcard of Young Woman

Goth Trends

I really can't put a finger on the exact reason I really like this gothic postcard, but maybe it's the vulnerability, but seeming lack of fear of the young woman portrayed in the art.

There is that sense of danger by the surroundings she's in, even though she is blindfolded, doesn't show it bothers her.

Evidently it's the composure under the unknown duress she either has faced, or is going to face, along with the beauty of the subject as well, that makes it so compelling.

Goth Trends | Goth Festival Has Big Turnout

Goth

For years the town of Whitby in the UK has been the destination of those who like to celebrate the Goth lifestyle.

Looking at the style of dress worn by the visitors though, they look more like weekend dabblers than serious practicioners.

I always find it interesting looking at goth fashion, that there's always a bunch of people dressing like nuns and priests or vicars.

Just like a true westerner, it was more about enjoying the bands and buying up trinkets serving the market. It's more like having fun on Halloween than anything else with this group.

Compare their costumes to the one below.
